Mrs. Marjorie Lorene Barlow, age 87, of Rome, passed away January 29, 2018, at a local health care facility. Mrs. Barlow was born on September 24, 1930, to the late Leonard and Clara Dover Reeves. Mrs. Barlow worked a number of years as a CNA at Sun Mountain Nursing Home before closing.
Mrs. Barlow was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Barlow, 3 brothers, Raymond Reeves, Leonard Reeves and Milton Reeves.
Survivors include her daughter, Phillis Townsand, and her husband Bobbi, of Silver Creek, a son Robert Barlow, and his wife, Shirley, of Alabama, a grand-daughter, Amanda Barlow, a brother, Wayne Reeves, of Marietta, and a sister-in-law, Sybil Barlow, of Rome, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at noon at the chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with family sharing eulogy, and Rev. Herman Stamey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday February 3, 2018, from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are requested to be at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Saturday and include William James, Wayne Reeves, JR. Russell Barlow, Namaan Barlow, Robert Barlow and Bobbi Townsend.
Mrs. Louise H. Baughman, age 93, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Baughman was born May 2, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late William Edward Reeves and Lillian Dorriety Reeves.
Mrs. Baughman graduated from Phillips High School. She married Kenneth H. Baughman Sr. on October 18, 1944, in Tarrant, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth H. Baughman Sr; sisters, Vivian Benton and Mable Toole; brothers, Ben Reeves and Tom E. Reeves, and a special nephew, E. Richard Toole, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth H. Baughman Jr. (Rosemary), granddaughter Lori Baughman, of Conover, North Carolina, special nieces and nephews, Bessie Henderson (Philip), Elizabeth Taylor of Stockbridge, Georgia and Monnie Toole, Hank Toole (Patricia), Lauren, Emma and Weston of Rome.
Mrs. Baughman loved her family and church and was a member of First Baptist of Rome for many years. She was a member of Garden Lakes Baptist Church at the time of her death. The family will receive friends on Monday February 5, 2018 from 10 to 11:00 AM at Daniel’s Funeral Home. A service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Thomas B. Griffin Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Dr. Floyd Roebuck and Rev. Randy Jiles officiating. Interment will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Those serving as pallbearers are Bob Blaylock and Hank Toole.
Michael Anthony Dial, age 36, of Rome passed away Tuesday afternoon January 30, 2018
Michael was born January 20, 1982, in Floyd County son of Hershel Dial and the late Patricia Langston Dial.
Survivors include father, Hershel Dial, Rome; brother, Bubba Dial, Rome; sisters, April Declue, Rome; Jessica Perez, Rome; Candice Boror, Rome; Tiffany Thurman, Rome; Miranda Dial, Rome; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside and interment services will held at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018, at Morning View Cemetery with Rev. Ron Dee Goode officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday February 2, 2018, at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
Mrs. Maria Esther Rosario Avilez Ball, of Silver Creek, went home to heaven on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, after 84 years on this earth.
Mrs. Ball was born on June 10, 1933, in Manati, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Juan Rosario Cortez and the late Carmen Josephina Avilez Lugo. She grew up in Puerto Rico, where she met her husband, Bobby Earl Ball. They married on September 26, 1957, and returned to the United States in November 1957. She was a devoted and loving wife and momma. Maria enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling, especially to the casinos. She loved country music and cooking for her family (dinner was always on the table at 5 pm). Mrs. Ball was of the Protestant faith and could be found on Sunday mornings listening to a preacher on the TV or radio. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bobby E. Ball, Silver Creek; daughter, Maria DiAnne Garrett (Larry), Rome; son, Bobby Russell Bal, Sr. (Pamela), Aragon; son, Larry Danny Ball (Jacqueline), Rome; daughter, Nereida Esther Blankenship (Joseph Levi), Rome; son, Charles William Ball (Kevette), Lindale; son, Bobby Russell Ball, Jr. (Sarah), Lindale; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Enrique Rosario Avilez (Lydia Esther); brother, Jose Raphel Rosario Avilez; sister, Elionilda Rosario Avilez; sister, Nilda Rosario Avilez (Luis Aldino), all from Puerto Rico.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Brother Timothy Patnode officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 12 noon until 1:45 pm.

Mrs. Atrice Mae Gilmore Bearden, age 95, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Bearden was born on May 12, 1922, in Cherokee County, AL, daughter of the late James Robert Gilmore and the late Willie Clemmons Gilmore. Atrice and Dailey married on July 13, 1942. She was a God fearing and loving member of Mt. View Baptist Church. Mrs. Bearden was a great cook and enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by a son, John William Bearden, by a granddaughter, Reatha Michelle Bearden, by her husband, Dailey Anderson Bearden, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita Garrison Jenkins, and her husband, Wilburn, Rome; son, Robert Bearden, Rome; daughter, Reatha Dowdy, Rome; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Joe Gilmore.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at 2 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Brother Micca Gillespie and Brother Tracey Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery.
