Dollar General is building “a relocated store” at 1605 N. Broad St. in Rome, just up from the current location of store #4440 at 1417 N. Broad. Completion of construction is expected by mid spring, says Mary Kathryn Colbert, Public Relations Manager at Dollar General Corp.

The new store will be approximately 7,300 square feet vs.  6,500 square feet for the current store. The new location will feature wider aisles and double the cooler space, which will provide a wider selection of frozen and refrigerated food.

Employees will move to the new store once it is completed. She doesn’t know what the landlord plans to do with the current location.
