Emergency crews are on the scene of a crash on Kingston Highway at Turner Chapel Road. According to Georgia State Patrol Officer Jeremy Battle, the eastbound lanes of Kingston Highway have just reopened and the westbound lanes towards town should be open by 10:45 p.m.
According to Battle, the driver of an SUV was impaired and left the roadway striking a utility pole and then a fence before coming to rest. The driver was transported to Floyd Medical Center and has charges pending. A second vehicle hit residual debris and electrical lines after the SUV knocked down the utility pole.
There are no power outages in the area according to the Georgia Power outage map.
Update: We’re confirming with the state patrol this morning the name of the suspect as well as the charges.
