Media release: On Tuesday afternoon, deputy sheriffs from Clayton County called on the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in locating and arresting a fugitive wanted in connection with a Saturday night homicide in Clayton County.
Gordon deputies and detectives — along with Clayton County deputies — followed a lead which led them to a local motel near Resaca. There, detectives utilized physical and electronic surveillance to locate Dantae Lamar Jones, 22, of Clayton County.
Jones, who was alone, had barricaded himself within a room. Deputies rapidly breached the barricade and surprised Jones, who was arrested without incident. Officers subsequently executed a search warrant in the room in search of physical evidence connected with the murder.
Jones was returned to Clayton County where he faces charges. Jones was listed as No. 2 on the Clayton County Sheriff’s “Most Wanted” list, and was “considered armed and dangerous.”
Said Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston said, “This arrest was an excellent example of teamwork among sheriffs together as we rapidly resolved a most serious case. I commend my staff and the Clayton County deputies for this quick apprehension.”

On Jan. 13, 2018, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Clayton County Police officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Gristmill Court in Riverdale in reference to a report of a suspicious person.
Responding officers met with the complainant of the call who advised them that two pops were heard and shortly after, there was banging at the rear door and a person could be heard screaming for help. Officers checked the rear of the location and did not find anyone. As officers continued to check the perimeter of the home, they located 17-year-old Jalen Camron (Riverdale, GA) laying face down on the side of the home. Members of Clayton County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the location and determined that Jalen had succumbed to his injuries.
Based on information obtained during the preliminary investigation, Dantae Lamar Jones was determined to be the person responsible for the murder of 17-year-old Jalen Camron. Detectives have obtained a warrant for Murder and are seeking information pertaining to Jones’ whereabouts.
