Mrs. Diana Eaton Shadday passed away in Rome, Ga., on January 9, 2018. She was born June 23, 1938 to Dr. and Mrs. Leonard J. Eaton of Bronxville N.Y.
Diana was a graduate of Northwestern University School of Journalism and a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. At college, she met Dan Jarrett Shadday. They married on July 30, 1960. While living in Bronxville N.Y., she became an active member in the Junior League as well as the American Yacht Club and Siwanoy Country Club.
After moving to Rome in 1976, she became the executive director of the Greater Rome Convention and Visitors Bureau. For the next 20 years, she “sold” Rome using her charisma, creativity, and vision to bring in millions of tourism dollars to Floyd County every year. Her leadership, service to the community and love for people affected many in the community.
She was an active member in both the Coosa Country Club and the Bald Head Island Country Club in North Carolina where she enjoyed playing golf and generally having a good time with friends and family.
Once retired in 1996, she continued to enjoy spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and friends who were dear to her.
She lived a life full of passion, beauty and fun and brought enthusiasm to everything she endeavored.
A member of the Rome First Presbyterian Church, she had a strong faith and trust in God.
Diana is survived by her son, Jarrett Shadday, her daughter-in-law, Holly Shadday, her grandchildren: Jay, Jacquelyn, Gamble, Mary Marshall and Evie Shadday, her daughter, Allison Shadday, her son-in-law, Sven Haarhoff, her nephew Brad Shadday, his wife Christy Shadday and their sons Tanner and Spencer, her brother Leonard Eaton Jr., his wife Patty Eaton and their children Leslie, Pam and Alex Eaton, as well as her Nieces Cynthia and Diana Hull and her nephew Jeffery Hull.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dan Jarrett Shadday, her sister, Leslie Hull and her parents Dr. Leonard Eaton and Alice Eaton.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the caregivers, Dr. Herren, and the staff at Brookdale who cared for Mrs. Shadday.

The family will be receiving friends and celebrating Diana’s life at First Presbyterian Church (King Hall), Rome, Ga., on Thursday Jan. 18, from 5 until 7 p.m. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Bald Head Island, N.C.
She will be remembered for her joy of life! She was the ‘Toast of the Town!’

Mrs. Kathryn Ray Fuller, age 86 of Rome, passed away Monday January 8, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. Fuller was born January 25, 1931 in Shelby County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Eugene Ray and Bessie Whitener Ray. She was a member of The Church of God, and was retired from Western Sizzling. She was preceded in death by a great grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, Rondy Fuller, daughters, Alice Emery, Lincoln, Al; Cathie Comeau, Lindale; grandchildren, Donna Sander, Clifford Dodd, Betty Korner, Patricia Tidwell, Donald (Gordy) Dodd, Samatha Dodd, Elanora Foster, and John Hoover, 16 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, brother, Frank Ray, Sylacauga, Al; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday January 13, 2018, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel , with Rev. Thomas Matthews, officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour on Saturday, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
Charlotte Catherine Kelley, 94, passed away on Monday January 8, 2018.
Charlotte was born on June 25, 1923 in Lindale Georgia. She was a graduate of McHenry High School in 1942. Charlotte was a very talented artist who also enjoyed gardening, and volunteered at Barnsley Resorts during the restoration of the gardens in the 1990s. She was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Milton Kenneth Kelley. Also preceding her in death were her brother Carlton Deason, her sister Betty Brown Vial, and her son Master Sgt. Steven Randell Kelley, retired USAF.
Charlotte is survived by five children; Brenda Giles of Rome, Warren Kelley of Kingston, Jeffrey Kelley, Jennifer Smith, and Bruce Kelley all of Rome. More than 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, GA. 30165. Funeral Services will follow at 2:30 PM. in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Rev. Charlie Carney, officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery.
