From Floyd County Emergency Management Director Tim Herrington, 3 p.m. Friday: “We can expect some type of precipitation possibly beginning late Sunday night into early Monday morning. It could be either rain or freezing rain which could present some travel difficulties for commuter traffic during the early morning hours. It is expected to clear out of our area by 1 p.m., so it shouldn’t affect anyone going to the National Championship Game in Atlanta.”

From Hometown: Friday’s briefing from the National Weather Service shows we could see up to 0.18 of an inch of ice beginning early Monday through 1 p.m. That also means a threat of ice on area roads during the Monday commute and back to school. We’ll continue to monitor the forecast throughout the weekend and early Monday.
