LATEST UPDATES

We originally had a 23 percent chance of seeing snow here Friday morning through Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service. But some of the latest models have pushed that percentage to 40 percent. Some accumulation is possible early Saturday as well. One forecast shows light snow from 4 until 6 a.m. Friday with increased chances from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday. Another round is possible 5 p.m. through 2 a.m. Saturday — and that’s also when black ice concerns will be high as temperatures will drop to the mid 20s or lower.

For now, the winter weather watch holds for our area — 7 a.m. Friday through Saturday morning. Northeast Georgia could see a winter storm warning because of the changing dynamics.

LOCAL SCHOOLS

  • Calhoun City Schools: Already closed because of the state championship football game.
