“The combination of cold air that has infiltrated the area along with increasing precipitation has resulted in the development of some light sleet mixing in with light rain at times. This has been mainly at the onset of the precipitation and is not expected to last very long and what does occur will continue to mixed with the rain. As such, no accumulations are anticipated with this sleet as temperatures at ground level remain in the upper 30s and lower 40s.”

We’re tracking reports of sleet so far in Woodstock. Nothing in Rome/Floyd County as of 1:25 p.m. Wednesday. Our current temperature: 43 degrees with an 8-mph wind creating at 38-degree wind chill.

 

 

 

OUTLOOK

All references to snow are out of the forecast for the weekend but it will be cold. Friday’s high will be 41, 45 on Saturday and 46 on Sunday. Overnight lows: Mid 20s.

Much colder air is expected to impact the forecast area Thursday through Tuesday.

Today: A 20 percent chance of rain after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: A slight chance of rain between 10pm and 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 50. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. North wind around 5 mph.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Northwest wind around 5 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 24.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 46.
