Updated: The 120 members of Floyd County Schools’ united marching band made their television this morning on WSB during the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Children’s Christmas Parade. .

Students from Armuchee, Coosa, Model and Pepperell high schools joined to form the marching band and first performed during Tuesday’s Rome Christmas Parade along Broad Street.

Tim Burton, the band director at Model High, was a guest on the Hometown Headlines Radio Edition on WRGA 98.7 FM earlier this week. Burton talked about how easily the band members came together to create a large enough entry into the Children’s Christmas Parade. Model student Dawson Burnes, who designed the county uniforms and is a member of band, joined the interview.

Channel 2 reports that the Christmas parade is the longest-running fundraising event for the hospital.  All proceeds from this year’s event will benefit various summer camps offered free to patients of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. This is the 37th year of the parade.
