Mr. Benjamin Troylee Dill Sr., age 71, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at a local hospital.

Mr. Dill was born in Cedartown, Georgia, on January 24, 1949, son of the late Cecil Owens Dill, Sr. and the late Floy Hansford Dill.  He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, who raised him, Owens and Annie Dill.  Mr. Dill worked for a number of years for Southern Can Co. and was a member of the Etna Baptist Church in Cedartown.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Talley; four children, Sabrina Marie Dill, Benjamin Troylee Dil, Jr., Annie Pearl Emberton, and Victoria Faith Dill; grandchildren, Patricia Anne Regner, Nicole Regner, Jonathan Leon, Daniel Wheeler, Whitney Kay Camacaro, Brandon Lee Dill, Jaylon Prater, Tyler Prater and Carmen Prater; a great grandson, Bradley Wayne Regner; a sister, Mary Ann Womack and her husband, Larry; a brother, Cecil Dill, Jr.; two nieces, Tina Duncan and Wendy Dill; a nephew, Brian Dill.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.

Joyce Ann Evans Talley Waits, age 74, of the Rosedale Community passed away Wednesday morning November 8, 2017 in a local healthcare facility.

A native of Gordon County, Ms. Waits was born April 16, 1941, daughter of the late Charles Albert Evans and Ruby Lynch. She was a former seamstress, working at Rome Casket Co. and Crown Craft Industries in Calhoun. Most recently, she was a nursery worker at the Church at Northside. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and cats.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandy Talley and Darlene (Ronnie) Thomas; two grandchildren Daniel(Merecia) Thomas and Kristen (Tim) Stover; great grandchild Matthew Stover; brother Charles (Elaine) Evans, neice Debbie (Mike) Smoker, cousin Kathryn Barnett, and special grandson Kevin Harrell also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 10 at the New Hope Baptist Church, Highway 156 in Rosedale with Reverend Mark Butler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from noon until the service hour.

Betty Nolen, age 71, died suddenly Monday, November 6, 2017. She was a former director of the Small Business Development Center and for many years had been Professor of Accounting at Georgia Highlands College, retiring in 2015.

Mrs. Nolen was a native of Floyd County, the daughter of the late John Thomas (Jay) Selman and the late Annie Elizabeth Grigsby. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Berry College, her MBA from West Georgia College, with additional graduate work at Clemson University and Georgia State University. Over the years she had attained several certifications including CPA, CMA, CFA, and CFM. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Rome. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse Nolen; son, Phillip (Amy) Nolen of San Diego, CA; sister, Wanda (Barry) Whitlock of Rome; brother, Mark (Pamela) Barlow of Jacksonville, FL; aunt, Ellen Mathis of Rome, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Selman; her stepfathers, G. B. Barlow, Jr., and Charles Grigsby.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home with Mr. Joe Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour. Memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Highlands College Foundation or you favorite charity.
