Update from WBHF, FM 100.3/AM 1450: The Bartow County Coroner was called to the scene. According to reports the driver of the tractor trailer died at the scene. For additional coverage, please click WBHF Facebook.

From Bartow County EMS: A 911 call was received at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday for a two- vehicle accident on U.S. 411  at Industrial Park Drive. Bartow County EMS, Bartow County Fire, Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Cartersville Fire and Cartersville Police responded. A tractor trailer appeared to strike a vehicle parked on the side of the roadway that may have had mechanical issues. The tractor trailer continued off the roadway, hitting power lines causing the tractor trailer to catch fire. The truck was within a few feet of a residence which also caught fire. The people inside the home were able to get out without injury. Bartow County EMS, once on the scene, located a male subject lying next to the vehicle on the roadside with numerous trauma injuries. Weather condition at the time of the accident grounded all medical helicopters. Bartow County EMS quickly assessed the patient and began treatment. The patient was transported to Kennestone Hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. U.S. 411 is completely shut down and will be for an extended time. Georgia State Patrol is working the scene to determine the cause of the accident.
