Ray L. Trussell, 84, of Rome died Wednesday evening, November 1, 2017 in a local hospital.
A native of DeKalb County, Alabama Mr. Trussell was born October 30, 1933 son of the late Daniel and Hattie Baker Trussell. He moved to Rome in 1970, and was associated with the Life of Virginia and State Mutual Insurance Companies. He later formed Trussell Insurance Agency. Mr. Trussell was energized by people and had a servant’s heart. He was an active member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and was a deacon. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was preceded in death by his son Lindsey James Trussell October 1, 2017.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dobbs Trussell to whom he was married December 19, 1959; son Clay (Debbie) Trussell of Summerville, SC and daughter Seena (Bill) Croy of Lindale; Seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a sister Lucille (Lyman) Crumbley also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Reverend Roger Lanter officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 PM until the service hour.

Little Tinleigh GraceAnn Cato, infant daughter of James and Sarah McCain Cato, passed away Thursday morning at Floyd Medical Center.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her sister, Taeliegh Jenkins; by her “Nana” Florence McCain; and by a special uncle and aunt, C. J. and Kim Cato and their daughter Bella. Several other family members also survive.
She was preceded in death by her “Popie” Roger Ball. Funeral services for Tinleigh will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 P.M. at the graveside of the Mountain Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Carla Woodard Wright officiating.
The family will receive friends at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M.
Mr. Joseph Kirk Henderson, age 51, of Silver Creek, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Henderson was born in Rome on December 9, 1965, son of Barbara Ellen Broadway Henderson and the late Joseph I. Henderson. He was a graduate of the Coosa High School in the class of 1983.
He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, having served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and the National Guard.
He was a Police Officer and a member of the SWAT Team, serving with both the Floyd County and Cartersville Police departments.
He was a member of the Anglican Church.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Connor Henderson, Rome; and his mother, Barbara Henderson, Rome; other relatives also survive.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Georgia National Cemetery. The Rev. Father Austin Goggans will officiate. Full military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post # 5 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, at noon on Tuesday and include; Doug Burel, George Lemming, Greg Dobbins, Jason Lemming, Tom Caldwell and Tom Ewing.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
John David Peña, age 60, passed away on Friday November 3, 2017 at a local health care facility. John was born September 4, 1957 in Rome, Georgia to Jean Margaret (Horrigan) and Ciro Fernando Peña.
John is survived by his parents and one brother Ciro Peña.
A funeral mass for John will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 911 North Broad Street, Rome, Georgia 30161. John will be inurned at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Memorial Garden at a later date.

Mr. Edwin Uriostigue, age 20, of Rome, Ga. transitioned November 2, 2017. The Mass Service for Mr. Uriostigue will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2:30 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 911 N. Broad St.. Interment will be Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 11 am at Rome Memorial Park.
