The new Ice-Land of Rome will open this Saturday at West End Commons shopping center at 1937 Shorter Ave., just across the street from Farmer’s Furniture. “We will have fresh, homemade ice cream and popsicles in fresh fruit flavors. We will have banana splits and pineapple delight…smoothies, snow cones and natural juices,” says Wilian Campos, owner. “There is nothing like this in West Rome. We are exciting about our shop and have something for everyone to enjoy.” Ice-Land will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday. For more

It’s National Pulled Pork Day and Sonny’s of Rome will be donating barbecue to the clients of the Salvation Army of Rome today. Owner Curtis Gardner also says his restaurant and others in the Sonny’s chain are offering $1 off on some pulled pork menu items today (sliders) through the 15th (redneck egg rolls, pulled pork dinners and sandwiches). October likewise is National Pork Month.
