Chick-fil-A’s temporary store quickly coming together off Riverside Parkway. Plus: Will these ornaments be part of a special Christmas display?

The temporary Chick-fil-A on Riverside Parkway is quickly coming together as these photos shows from Monday afternoon. The “container” style project will feature drive-through service only while the Dwarf House on Shorter Avenue is demolished to make way for a new restaurant. No opening date has been set but mid to late October was the original estimate. Chick-fil-A is hiring an additional 30 employees to help with the temporary location. To apply, please visit dwarfhouse.wyckwyre.com or in person at 264 Shorter Ave.”

Media release: Each year, Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal chooses a theme for the Christmas décor at the Governor’s Mansion.  The goal is for each one of Georgia’s 159 counties to have an ornament hanging in the Governor’s Mansion during the Christmas tours.  This season, she asked each county to send an ornament highlighting its county’s historical courthouse.  She also asked for an ornament from a child.  Information was sent to all area high schools requesting a submission of the historical courthouse.   Area fourth grade students were invited to create an ornament for submission. Congratulations to Morgan Davis, 15, of Pepperell High School for her hand-painted replica of the Floyd County historic courthouse.  Congratulations also to the following fourth graders: Brinzlee Painter (Armuchee Elementary), Andrew Neal (East Central Elementary), and Sam Ross (Pepperell Elementary). Remaining ornaments will decorate trees in Floyd County government offices and will be on display to the public. For more information, contact the Floyd County Clerk’s Office at 706-291-5110.
