A local restaurant operator coined the phrase “Dessert Drive” when referring to another announced newcomer on Broad Street. So we’ll steal it today as we take a closer look at the Rock Candy Bar and Ice Cream Parlor coming soon to 231-B Broad St. The name is familiar as you might recall the former store at Mount Berry Mall. This one is opening in the highly competitive 200 block of Broad where The Creamery and Honeymoon Bakery already compete for the dessert and snack crowd. The Rock Candy Bar will open adjacent to Johnny’s New York Style Pizza.

AR Workshop Rome is coming to 411 Broad St. Another hands-on crafting opportunity is coming to the 400 block of Broad Street, adjacent to La Scala. AR Workshop — short for the now-franchising Anders Ruff Workshop — is on the way, offering ideas and space for all sorts of crafting events (“your next girls’ night out, date night, birthday party — kids and adults, even corporate team-building events. So what is AR Workshop? It’s a boutique DIY studio where friends and family gather to create unique home decor pieces, including wooden signs, lazy susans, canvas wall hangings, pillows and more!” For more on the concept, please click www.arworkshop.com. You’ll find more on the Rome branch by clicking Facebook.

  • From the operators: “We are so excited to be opening up a business in downtown Rome. We hope to be having an opening in early November.”
