Buzz: Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K returns Saturday. Rome TEA Party meets Tuesday. Holy Day of Obligation for area Catholics on Tuesday.

Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K & 2 Mile Health Walk

The Tillman Clocktower 5K & 2 Mile Health Walk returns Aug. 19. Around 500 walkers and runners participate each year with proceeds benefit The Exchange Club Family Resource Center. The race begins a 8 a.m. You can register online through Wednesday for $35.

  • Race day registration is open from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Aug. 19; $35 for 5K and $30 for the two-mile
  • Teams of 10 or more (any combination or run & walk) receive a discount of $3 per person (registrations for each team must all be submitted together no later than Aug. 9 to qualify for this discount).

The Rome TEA Party will host its monthly Lunch Bunch meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 12:00- 1:00 at Fuddruckers. Featured speaker will be Bob Babcock, a Rome independent insurance broker who will bring us insight on the status of Obamacare and likely possibilities for repeal and replacement. Holy Day of Obligation for area Catholics: A reminder that Tuesday, Aug. 15, is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed
Virgin Mary. Masses are at 6 p.m. Monday (vigil) at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church; 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Mary’s Catholic School (gym); noon and 6 p.m. at the church (in English); and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Spanish at the church.
