Antigua Mexican Restaurant is closer to opening at the former El Tapatio at 863 Cartersville Highway next to the East Rome Wal-Mart. Owner Sabrina Wilson appeared before Rome’s Alcohol Control Commission last month, seeking approval on a new beer, wine and liquor pouring license. From the ACC minutes: “Ms. Wilson stated she is thoroughly familiar with Rome’s and the State of Georgia
Alcohol Regulations having worked with Las Palmas Mexican Restaurants for the past 18 years. She stated that the new restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., and her employees will be trained under the TIPS Alcohol Service guidelines.” Unanimously approved.

  • About El Tapatio: An Alabama-based chain, the restaurant opened in the former Milano’s pizza shop in April 2015. It closed in late December 2016 but reopened weeks later under the same name.
