WEATHER NOW

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Western Cherokee County and Bartow County until 7:30 tonight. At 132 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Two to three inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Some locations that will experience flooding include… Canton, Cartersville, Acworth, Adairsville, Euharlee, Emerson, White, Waleska, Kingston, Taylorsville, Cassville, Kellogg Creek, Red Top Mountain State Park, Folsom, Hobgood Park, Funkhouser, Lake Arrowhead, Oak Grove, Little River Landing and George Washington Carver State Park.

THE BARTOW FLOODS

The official rainfall total through 5 p.m. at Cartersville Airport is 1.46 inches.

WBHF AM 1450 and 100.3FM reports up to 1.7 inches of rain in some areas already today.

 

OUTLOOK

Today: Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are expected. A few strong storms are possible. The primary hazards will be gusty winds,
frequent lightning and very heavy rainfall. With soils at or approaching saturation across much of north and central Georgia,
localized flooding is possible.

Weekend: There will be scattered to numerous thunderstorms each day, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. A few storms
could be strong to severe with the main hazards being gusty winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rain.
