RAINFALL

We had a few storms blow through on Monday but together, they left just 0.35 of an inch of rain (12:01 a.m. Monday-5 a.m. Tuesday). In Cartersville: 0.69 of an inch. We could see another inch between now and Thursday morning.

OUTLOOK

Today: Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected. A few strong thunderstorms are possible. The primary hazards will be gusty winds,  frequent lightning and very heavy rainfall. With soils approaching saturation across much of north Georgia, localized flooding is
possible, especially along and north of I-20.

Wednesday-weekend: There will be scattered to numerous thunderstorms each day, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. A few storms could be strong to severe with the main hazards being gusty winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rain.

FORECAST

Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 10am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 82. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Wednesday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70.
