If you’re heading out to do some school shopping this weekend, there are two local retailers offering tax-free shopping despite Georgia lawmakers’ decision not to hold the tax holiday this year.

GoGo at the Shoe Box on Martha Berry Blvd. is also having it’s own tax-free shopping. Today the store will give customers a break by paying for the sales tax on every item in its inventory.The sales-tax break is good for any purchase amount, including any items that are on sale. Last weekend, Whistle Britches on Broad Street did its own tax-free sale even though the state opted out of the popular consumer holiday this year.
Tennessee’s tax free holiday is today through Sunday (details); Alabama held its sale last weekend.
