Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader advised residents to seek detours around the area (which include Ga. 100 and even I-75).

WRGA 98.7 FM and AM 1180 in Chattooga County report that the accident occurred around 7 a.m… All four Redmond EMS ambulances stationed in Chattooga County were called to the scene . . . Lifeforce was called but was unable to fly because of fog in the area.

It was the second fatal accident on U.S. 27 near Taylor’s Ridge this year. WDEF reports that “One child has died and five other people injured in a crash Tuesday night on Taylor’s Ridge in northwest Georgia. It happened at the scenic overlook on Georgia around 8:39 p.m. Troopers believe that a Kia Spectra was heading north on Highway 27 and ran off the road in a curve, over-corrected and hit a Nissan Quest coming the other way. The Spectra then flipped, ejecting two children. 11 year old Kendrick Hines from Summerville was pronounced dead on the scene.” Expanded report
