Starting next week, you’ll see a new food truck rolling around Rome but Dinner Diva is not your typical meal on wheels. Healthy, fresh, family meals to take home and enjoy around your dinner table is their niche.
Meet Art and Holly Lord, veteran business professionals who are now certified food handlers. Holly gave up her career in the pharmaceutical industry to follow her passion in sharing fresh, healthy recipes with family and friends. Art maintains his “day” job in sales but assists Holly in various aspects of the business.
“After years of working in the pharmaceutical industry, I needed to make a change so that I could have a better balance between work and my family. Dinner Diva became a dream of mine after having a conversation with my daughter, Hannah. She asked me what I enjoy doing… of course, my answer was trying fresh, new recipes and sharing with family and friends,” says Holly.
“I find great joy in loving on the people I care most about through food. Incorporating healthy, homemade, kid-friendly meals into a busy lifestyle became my passion. I have an arsenal of healthy, quality, hubby/kid approved meals I wanted to share. My friends gladly agreed to try a few of my dishes and there it began.”
Dinner Diva is not a traditional food truck in that you can’t just stop by, place order and go. All of their meals must be pre-ordered in advance to be picked up on a certain day of the week from the food truck.
“ . . . We will provide appealing, fresh eats to go that just need to be popped in the oven for 30-35 minutes so that they may be enjoyed while relaxing in your own home,” she says. “It gives families on-the-go a healthier alternative to running through a fast-food drive through.”
Dinner Diva will have two options for orders; either a full-order to feed a family of four or a half-order for two people. Menu options will include some “skinny” recipes with little variation. The order will include one main dish. There will be additional sides like salad or soup that you can add to the meal.
“There is a trend toward gluten free, vegetarianism and overall eating healthier, whole foods. Dinner Divas is focused on inspiring a variety of dishes to fit into these trends to include non-wheat pastas, greek yogurt, fresh vegetables, unique marinades and sauces, and clean meats,” says Holly.
“Some of my most popular dishes include Skinny Chicken Enchiladas, Mediterranean Pasta, Maple Balsamic Pork Tenderloin, Spinach & Feta Stuffed Chicken and Bruschetta Chicken.”
Calorie counts and Weight Watcher SmartPoints conversions will be available. Prices for each meal will be listed on the website. Holly says “I tried to keep our prices in line with what a family of four would spend at a fast-food restaurant.”
In addition to weekly menu ordering, Dinner Diva will be available for special event catering for dinner parties, family gatherings or events up to 250 people.
How to order
Each week, Dinner Diva will feature the next week’s menu online via a website, Facebook and Instagram. Meal pick-up days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from the food truck that will be located near downtown Rome along Turner McCall, Fifth Avenue or Martha Berry Boulevard. Exact locations are still be determined.
“We will be located just far enough off the main traffic flow to allow for an easy and convenient access to accommodate everyone’s busy lifestyle,” she says.
Orders for Tuesday pick-up will need to be placed by 3 p.m. on the Friday before. Orders for Thursday pick-up will need to be placed by 3 pm. on Tuesday. Orders can be made via phone, text, email or website.
“By ordering ahead, customers can even have options to take meals on vacation or for a weekend at the lake. Our to-go meals are perfect for the busy parent, new mom, healing friend, new neighbor or family getaway,” says Holly.
