Rome Exchange Club Past-President Buzz Wachsteter accepts National CARE award.

The Exchange Club of Rome and the Family Resource Center has won the National CARE Award for large clubs for the third year in a row. The CARE Award (Child Abuse Reduction Effort) is presented to an individual Exchange Club or groups of Exchange Clubs that sponsor the most effective and far-reaching child abuse prevention project or projects. This year, the Rome group received the award for the Event Sponsorship Procurement Process for fundraising efforts.


The Coosa High School LSGT will host a Meet and Greet with our new principal, LaDonna Turrentine, on Monday July 17th from 5-7 pm in the CHS Cafeteria. Teachers, parents, students, and residents in the Coosa Community are invited to stop by.

Tellus Science Museum Astronomer David Dundee will present a special talk at the Bartow History Museum on July 27 about the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse of August 21. Millions of Americans will be observing some phase of this eclipse and you want to be prepared. Learn more about its path, the best ways to observe this eclipse, and what plans Tellus Science Museum has for the event. He will explain why eclipses occur and when the next one will happen. The lecture will start at 7 p.m.  It is free for members and included in the price of admission to the museum for non-members.

Georgia Firearms and Security Training Academy is offering a basic pistol safety training course for the citizens of Rome and members of Charles Parker Center from 1-5 p.m. on July 29, 2017. Minimal class size is 10 students with a maximum of 20 students. This course of instruction is designed for the first-time gun owners and students that are interested in learning the basic skills, knowledge and attitude in safely handling a pistol. This four (4) hour course will consist of three (3) hours classroom with written test (minimum score 80%) and (1) hour range training and qualifications (minimal score 80%).
