Elizabeth DeGroen Cook, November 12, 1923 ~ July 11, 2017 (age 93). Funeral arrangements for Mrs Elizabeth D. Cook, of Rome Georgia are incomplete and will be announced soon. Miller & Richards Oaknoll Chapel Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Betty Johnson Darden, age 66, of 120 Sir Lancelot Ct. Fayetteville, Ga. transitioned July 12, 2017. Complete arrangements will follow at a later date. F. K. Jones Funeral Home.

Mr. Curtis Truman Hall, age 68, of Calhoun, passed away Monday July 10, 2017 in a Rome Medical Center.

Mr. Hall was born April 22, 1949 in Floyd County, a son of the late J.T. Hall and Frances Smith Hall. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Viet Nam War. He was avid NASCAR Fan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Hall, and sister Sandra Hall.

Survivors include his sister, Debbie (Robert) Whorley, Rome; his four year old beloved blood hound George.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday July 13, 2017 at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:55 AM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion will conduct full military honors.

Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas Walter Jones, Jr., age 89, of Rome, passed away Tuesday evening, July 11, 2017, at his assisted living residence.

Mr. Jones was born in Floyd County, GA on July 2, 1928, son of the late Thomas Walter Jones, Sr. and the late Annie Dee Barnes Jones.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Jerry William Jones, and by several siblings.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Jones was employed with General Electric here in Rome for many years.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret Inez Henry, to whom he was married on August 26, 1948; a daughter, Julia Jones Bennett, and her husband, David, Silver Creek; a son, James M. Jones, and his wife, Phyllis, Tavares, FL; a brother, Michael Jones, The Villages, FL; 3 grandchildren, Nathan Bennett, Rome, Amber Dockery, and her husband, Brian, Silver Creek, and Melissa Jones, and her husband, Mike, Rome; 2 great grandchildren, Kylie and Madison Dockery, Silver Creek; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 11am at the graveside in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.  His son-in-law, Bro. David Bennett, will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 5 until 7pm.  At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.
