An independent since the program began in 2011, Shorter University’s men’s lacrosse will have a conference home beginning in the 2018 season, when the Hawks join the Great Lakes Valley Conference as an associate member. The GLVC made the announcement Tuesday that they would begin sponsoring men’s lacrosse during the 2017-2018 year to boost the league’s sponsorship from 21 to 22 sports. The GLVC Council of Presidents officially voted to approve the addition in May. The inaugural season of GLVC men’s lacrosse will feature six institutions comprised of two full-time GLVC members and four associate members: University of Indianapolis (GLVC), Maryville University (GLVC), University of Alabama Huntsville (Gulf South Conference), University of Montevallo (Gulf South Conference), Shorter University (Gulf South Conference), and Young Harris College (Peach Belt Conference).
