Aragon man struck and killed by car while cutting his grass along Ga. 101 in Polk County

An Aragon man has died after being struck by a car while cutting his grass along Highway 101 in Polk County on Saturday. According to the Georgia State Patrol, 73-year-old Phillip Henry Gentry was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the GSP report, Vehicle 1 (1996 Chevrolet Lumina) was traveling south on GA 101 driven by Christopher Dion High, 42, of Rockmart. A pedestrian (Gentry) on a riding lawnmower was cutting grass on the east side of the road. Vehicle 1 left the east side of GA 101 and struck a culvert. Vehicle 1 then went airborne and struck the pedestrian on the riding lawnmower. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. The crash in still under investigation and SCRT-A is also conducting a further investigation. Information will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office to determine charges against driver 1.
