This Google Map from the Jack’s website shows you how few of the franchises are in Northwest Georgia — and how saturated Alabama is with the fast-food shops.

Plans for a second Jack’s fast food restaurant are now on file at the planning department in the Carnegie Building. It will rise at 2501 Shorter Ave. in West Rome, complimenting the store on Martha Berry in Armuchee. The site is the former Magic Wand car wash near Sonic. Jack’s, based in Birmingham, was founded in 1960 and has more than 140 locations but is a relatively new player in Northwest Georgia. The Armuchee location opened last September.

What to expect: The plan at the building department had a date of July 5 on it so we’re assuming plans are just under way. Based on the Armuchee location, look for a six-month buildout (start to opening). We’re expecting a restaurant that pretty much matches what is on Martha Berry, covering around 3,500 square feet under roof and seating up to 85 people.

An insider look Sellers Eatery now open on Broad Street. Missy Alford stopped by downtown’s newest restaurant for quick tour on Thursday. Here are some of the photos she sent:

Above: The interior has a much different look from the brief days of The Greener Burger — very modern and fresh. Below: Speaking of fresh, David Sellers has been very chatty about the salad bar accompanying the new venture. “We will have between 35 to 40 different topping options on our salad bar, lots of healthy choices. It will be a garden fresh salad bar like Ruby Tuesday’s has…you can order a meal with a salad bar option,” Sellers said in an earlier interview. Hours: 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. (From Downtown Rome, Ga.)
