From River Dog’s Facebook page. One side of the beer garden is now home to the River Dog Paddle store that had been at 5 Broad St. Adjoining the converted container: SpeakCheesy’s food truck.

Two of downtown Rome’s most welcome additions in recent years — River Dog Paddle Co. and its spinoff, River Dog Outpost beer garden — ¬†are now based on one site at 1 Broad St. The storefront came first just as the paddle board trend was emerging, and Mike and Connie Sams expanded to the beer garden just down the street where small barbecue shops had been based for many years. Last month, using a container pod, they combined into one spot.

The store gear is in the container and it is just next to SpeakCheesy’s food truck as you face Bridgepoint Plaza.

The message to fans of both the paddle board shop and the outpost: “We have evolved and River Dog is super stoked! River Dog Paddle Co is now located inside the beer garden at River Dog Outpost and we’ll be merging our Facebook pages as well. So head on over to our River Dog Outpost page and like us there.”

As for SpeakCheesy: Now celebrating three years, SpeakCheesy is open at 1 Broad St. Tuesday-Saturday and what’s new: Sunday brunch starting at noon.
