Changes to the interior and exterior of LocoMex, coming to Magretta Hall at 201 Broad St., are more than evident. This interior photo was taken June 22. From Facebook.

LocoMex Mexican Restaurant is just about ready to get those fajitas sizzling. Another round of hiring was held Wednesday at 201 Broad St. (Magretta Hall) in advance of an opening that can’t be more than a few days away. As of Wednesday night, they were still awaiting the alcohol license.

But one indicator everything is close: The restaurant’s Facebook page already is displaying entertainment for July 15 and 22.

“Live music kicks off Saturday, July 15th with Drew Ashworth! We are excited to feature local musicians and bands from around Georgia every Saturday night at our brand new location! Presented by: Crest Pointe Entertainment Group & Locomex Rome.”

That’s following by a July 22 show by Josh Purgason.

Just up the street, customers will get their first look at Sellers Eatery at 315 Broad St., which briefly was home to The Greener Burger. Sellers opens at 10:30 a.m. and we’re anxious to hear some of the first reports.

Calhoun Chick-fil-A closed this month for makeover: Customers of the Chick-fil-A at 405 Ga. 53 in Calhoun have seen signs of change for several weeks now. The next phase means closing the restaurant for all of July. The Facebook post says it all: “Friends, June 30 will be our last day open before we close our doors to complete the remodel of our kitchen. We will be closed the entire month of July with the intention of opening our doors in August to better serve the needs of this great community. We are looking forward to our grand re-Opening when it will be our great pleasure to serve you better. Please check back regularly for up to date information on our progress.” You can track it online.

Notes from around the region:

Seasons on Broad Street: The June wine tasting sold out in advance (“Thank you so much to our loyal customers and intrigued guests.”) What’s next: The next tasting is set for July 27, featuring Sweetwater beer.

Dub’s High on the Hog Barbecue in Calhoun took a few days off this week but reopens Friday at 4:30 p.m. We discovered that as we checked on the restaurant’s low country boil that have been running on Thursday nights. Price: $12.99. But not tonight.

Linde Marie’s Steakhouse on the Square in Cave Spring also took a break but returns to service at 4 p.m. Friday.
