Holiday report: 17 charged with boating under the influence (one locally). On the road: At least 14 die in traffic accidents including three in Northwest Georgia.

From Georgia Department of Natural Resources/Law Enforcement Division: As of Tuesday night, DNR had recorded 17 boating under the influence arrests statewide (including one in Northwest Georgia), three boating incidents (two on Oconee and one on Hartwell) with two minor injuries, and drowning from the Macon area. We’ll have a final report on the Independence Day weekend later today.

From the Georgia Department of Highway Safety: As the Independence Day Weekend holiday travel period ended at midnight Tuesday, at least 14 people had died on Georgia roads and highways, three of whom lost their lives in Northwest Georgia. Two of those deaths occurred Monday afternoon when a minivan ran off I-75 near Cartersville.
