Limous Young Couey, age 96, of Rome passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Winthrop Health and Rehab.
Limous was born March 22, 1921 in Putman County, daughter of the late Luther and Gracie Callahan Young. She was a devoted Christian who served her Lord faithfully, a great prayer warrior, the oldest member of State Line Baptist Church. A loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and a Great-Great-Grandmother, a very kind and sweet spirit, always encouraging those she knew, taught Sunday school for many years.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Couey; daughter Jeanette Gilstrap; two sons, Alvin Couey and Calvin Couey; four sisters Clara King, Mary Broome, Margaret Andres and Sara Conaway; one brother W.L. Young.
Survivors include her brother Jerry (Mary) Young, daughter in law Glenda Couey (caregiver), four grandsons; Scott (Pam) Gilstrap, Greg (Cindy) Gilstrap, Allen (Kathy) Couey, Tim(Kim) Couey, one granddaughter, Susan (Don) Lanham, A special sister in law Kathy Young, a special cousin Rosa Lee Callahan, many nieces and nephews, 10 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday June 19, 2017 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Lively, her former pastor; Rev. Lael Corbett, another former pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Monday, June 19, 2017. Pallbearers include her grandsons and great grandsons, who are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:30 P.M. on Monday; Allen Couey, Tim Couey, Scott Gilstrap, Greg Gilstrap, Austin Gilstrap, Blake Gilstrap, Ryan Gilstrap, Nicholas Gilstrap, and Zackary Gilstrap.
