There’s a new food truck/trailer rolling the streets of Rome offering their own specially smoked barbecue. Owner Corey Tanner feels his new Three Rivers BBQ offers a unique mobile vending option for folks to enjoy one of the most popular foods in the South. He joins a busy local market that includes the likes of Moe’s Bar-B-Que, Sonny’s BBQ and the soon-to-open Rhino Smokehouse.
Tanner made his debut during last month’s Rome River Jam at Ridge Ferry Park and received nothing but 5-star reviews on Facebook.
“I started cooking as a child…really been cooking my whole life it seems. I had bought this trailer for barbecue competitions and so I thought I would give mobile vending a try,” says Tanner, who also holds a job working on substations for Georgia Power.
Following Rome River Jam, he has been setting up for lunch vending service from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 1709 Martha Berry Blvd., in the parking lot of Apria Healthcare.
“I sold out several days. I would love to work up to vending 4 to 5 days a week serving in a few key locations. I am looking for a good spot in East Rome as well,” he says. “I am also building up my catering business for weddings and corporate events.”
Three River BBQ offers beef brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken with sides including baked beans, potato salad and cole slaw.
“My goal is to start cooking whole hog on Saturdays. I have cooked a lot of whole hogs in my life, but not many people have seen that. I would like to not only serve folks barbecue, but also teach them about barbecue,” he says.
You can stay updated on where Three Rivers BBQ sets up for lunch by following their Facebook page. Tanner says he open to suggestions for other locations. You can also reach to set up for private events by calling 706-728-6068.
