Cartersville Police continue investigation into Saturday drowning that claimed 3-year-old girl. Latest update: Door to backyard was unlocked.

 

From Cartersville Police, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday:

On Saturday, May 27,  Cartersville Police Department, the Cartersville Fire Department and Bartow EMS responded to 425 Waterford Drive in reference to a possible drowning.  Upon arrival, emergency personnel began performing CPR on a  juvenile female.   However, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The child was transported to the Cartersville Medical Center. Through investigation, it was determined the rear door to the residence was left unlocked during the morning hours.  According to witnesses, the child was last seen at approximately 11 a.m. inside the residence. The child was discovered in the private pool in the backyard of the residence. The investigation is ongoing and, if there are any new developments, a news release will be generated.

Media release from Bartow Emergency Medical Service, Saturday afernoon

At 12:48 p.m. Saturday,  Bartow County EMS, Cartersville Fire Department and Cartersville Police Department responded to Waterford Drive. to a 3-year-old female found in a private swimming pool. Upon arrival to the scene, Bartow County EMS found the patient unconscious, unresponsive and not breathing. CPR was initiated by family and once on the scene Bartow County EMS and CFD continued CPR. The patient was quickly moved to the ambulance without CPR being interrupted. Once in the ambulance, Bartow County EMS Paramedics began Advanced life support measures. CFD firefighter drove the ambulance to the hospital so both Paramedics could continue treatment and resuscitation efforts while en route to the hospital. The patient was transported to Cartersville Medical Center. Upon arrival to the hospital, efforts where continued by the Emergency Room staff and doctor. The patient did not respond to any treatment methods preformed.
