Media release: An anonymous donor has pledged $50,000 to encourage others to participate in the Unity Christian School Southern Affair fundraiser, Saturday, April 29. The funds will match those donated through the live auction and pre-auction raffle. The proceeds of the gift will be used to support student scholarships. The Unity Southern Affair banquet and auction is a bi-annual fundraising event held at the farm of Fred and Mary Taylor in support of the financial sustainability and growth of the school. The event has become one of the premier social events of the Rome community playing host to more than 30 corporate sponsors and 450 guests.
Says director of advancement Dr. Courtney Cash. “The Lion’s Pride volunteers that organize it are committed to treating everyone to a first class evening benefitting the cause of Christian education in our community. The fact that a donor would commit a leadership gift of this kind and set an example for others is truly a blessing. The Southern Affair represents a significant portion of our annual fundraising strategy. This gift, and the gifts received at Southern Affair, will help fund scholarships for school growth, technology and curriculum upgrades for the classroom, and training and support for our teachers. Each dollar has a direct impact on the experience of our students.”
The theme for this year is “an evening of elegance – southern style.” Guests will have the opportunity to win raffle prize packs from local merchants, or take home luxury vacations, access to major sporting events, sought after pieces of art, or exciting family experiences, in the live auction.
“Our live auction is going to be very competitive this year,” said Cash. “We have premium ticket packages to both new stadiums in Atlanta. Beach vacation condos. Custom art. Babysitting and cleaning services for a year, and much, much, more.”
