With any luck, we ended the summer heat surge on Thursday in style — a record high of 91 degrees, beating the old record of 89 set on Oct. 20, 1953. We’re already tied one record this week (Tuesday) and came within a degree of doing so again on Wednesday. Cartersville, with a high of 88, broke the record high for Oct. 20 — 87 degrees (also set in 1953).
Next up: lower-than-normal temperatures. Friday’s high: Maybe 65 degrees, 26 degrees cooler than Thursday. We normally see highs near 74 and lows of 49 this time of year.
