Several updates to share today as the investigation continues into the death of Bartow County Firefighter Terrance Herrington:
- The GBI autopsy has been completed and, for now, the results are listed as “pending.” Deputy Coroner Gene Proctor says two things are behind the classification: the continuing investigation into his death and a toxicology report.
- What happened: Herrington was found with a single gunshot wound to the head early Sunday. Proctor, the coroner on duty, earlier said it was a “suspicious” death which is why the autopsy was ordered. The Floyd County Police Department is investigating the case.
- For now, Herrington’s body is at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home on Shorter Avenue. We are awaiting details on funeral services. Herrington is the son of Tim Herrington, Floyd County’s emergency management director, and his wife, Sherry.
