Obituaries: Remembering Mrs. Patricia Ann Presley, Rev. Adrian Eugene “Pap” Agan


Mrs. Patricia Ann Presley, age 81, of Roswell, formerly of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.

Mrs. Presley was born in Rome, Georgia on October 10, 1934, daughter of the late Clifford R. Kilgo and the late Mary Elizabeth Blankenship Kilgo. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Presley. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Presley worked as a Kindergarten teacher at West Central Elementary School. She was a member of the Armuchee Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Lynn “Jeff” Presley and his wife, Michelle, Alpharetta, and Joseph Scott Presley and his wife, Lisa, Rome; two sisters, Sue Walker and her husband, Tony, Silver Creek, and Mary Jean Barnes, Armuchee; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 11am at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Mr. Warren Jones will officiate.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.

Rev. Adrian Eugene “Pap” Agan, age 84, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2015, at his residence with his family by his side.

Rev. Agan was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on February 16, 1931, son of the late Alonzo Agan and the late Molly Morris Agan. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Pledger Agan, by a sister, Haney Agan Green, by brothers, Plural Agan, Crayton Agan, M. C. “Mac” Agan, Wesley Agan and Carlton Agan, and by a step-son, Felton Rhoades. Rev. Agan was a member of the Liberty View Baptist Church and pastored and preached for over 65 years. Prior to retirement, he worked for a number of years at Goodyear.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Bonnie Rhoades Agan; three daughters, Vivian and Eddie Woods, TN, Cathy and Jerry Matthews, Centre, AL, and Jan and Mark Keenen, Centre, AL; a son, Gary and Sherry Agan, Rome; two step-sons, David and Wanda Rhoades, TX, and Phillip Rhoades, Rome; seven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Betty Lee, Leesburg, AL, Reba and Paul Crider, Rock Run, AL, and Annie and Doyle Kerr, Centre, AL; one brother, Jerome “G” Agan, Rome; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Ladell Jacobs and the Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in Old Nazareth Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 6 until 8pm. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.

Both active and honorary pallbearers are asked to assemble at Sunday at 1:30pm and include: Active: David Motes, Harold Hamrick, Jackie Jacobs, Kenneth Agan, Jerry Rhodes, and Walter Baker. Honorary: Grandsons and nephews.
