Harbor Freight store prepares to open in West Rome; ‘blowout sale’ in January

Grand opening sale? How about a “January Blowout Sale” coming Jan. 10-12 as Harbor Freight Tools surprises more than a few people with its quick turnaround in refurbishing the former Ferguson tool store. The company’s website says the store at 2112 Shorter Ave. will be “opening soon.” This Friday photo, courtesy of DB, appears to have the more definitive date. We’ll get that official opening date later today.

Based in Calabasas, Calif., the company has more than 450 stores in 46 states including Georgia locations in Athens, Augusta, Douglasville, Dunwoody, Fayetteville, Kennesaw, Lilburn, Macon, Savannah and Valdosta. Rome’s designation is store no. 486.

It is the second business to make such a quick turnaround. Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen opened next to the West Rome branch of Heritage First Bank in surprising quick time.
